The School of Media Management, Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU), Kiwale, Pune is organizing the National Conference on ‘Emerging Digital Media Landscape – 2022’ which will be held on 26th June 2022 at SSPU Campus in association with the Media and Entertainment Skill Sector (MESC), Government of India.
This conference is mainly aiming to highlight the emerging digital media and changing landscape of Media and Entertainment Industry where the media experts and media industry professionals will
address the students about the opportunities and new job roles in the field of Media and Entertainment sector.
Symbiosis was started in 1971, by visionary educationist Dr. Shantaram Balwant Mujumdar as a ‘home away from home’ for foreign students studying in Pune. He was awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by His Excellency President of India. Since its inception, Symbiosis has grown into a large education group with schools and colleges spread across 20 campuses. Symbiosis has thousands of students from all across India and 80 countries studying in various on-campus programs.
Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES) was established to promote vocational, skill-based education, and open & distance learning. SOES has four constituent units under its aegis – Symbiosis
Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL), Symbiosis Vocational Junior College, Symbiosis Community College, and Symbiosis Institute of Skill Development. SCDL was established in 1994 with the
objective of “Reaching the Unreached”.
Taking the mission of Skill India forward, Symbiosis Open Education Society announced the establishment of Maharashtra’s first Skill Development University called the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University at Kiwale, Pune. The University was enacted through a bill passed by State Legislation on 3rd May 2017
The ‘State-of-Art’ campus has been constructed on 15 acres of land with specialized laboratories, workshops, and centers of excellence having specialized skill training equipment and machines. The University offers Certificates, Diplomas, and Degree programs in high-growth sectors such as Automobile, Construction, Mechatronics, Architecture, Retail, Ports & Terminal Management, Beauty & Wellness, Media Management and Film Making etc. with multi-entry-exit credit banking options. The objective of the University is to create ‘industry-ready’ youth who can be gainfully employed upon completion of their courses.
The innovative model of the University provides entry to all, enabling those from both the formal as well as informal systems to acquire education and skills. The model has incorporated the strength and best practices of the vocational and skill development system followed in various countries as well as the characteristics of the Indian ethos and culture.
Partnerships within the industry for joint curricula development, skill training, on-the-job training, joint applied research projects, etc. will be undertaken by the University. Centre of Excellence,
labs, simulation software, and training workshops will be created to impart skill and practical training.
The School of Media Management offers, a three-year full-time BBA Program in Digital Media and Marketing. The BBA – Digital Media & Marketing provides an end-to-end understanding of the current digital marketing framework, in-demand tools, and best practices. The school of Media Management will shortly start a few more programs in the Media and Entertainment sector
Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) has been setup under the National Skills Development Mission, Government of India under the aegis of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and promoted by FICCI. The Media & Entertainment Industry is projected to grow to INR 1457 billion by 2016. Therefore it becomes imperative to have skilled workforce catering to the growing needs of the industry across various subsectors in terms of quality and quantity. MESC would ensure generation of adequately skilled workforce which is industry ready and employable.
The power of animation is that it’s not limited by reality. The creative freedom to express in different styles of animation brought it more attractive and accepted by all types of audience in the world. Mr. E. Suresh who is graduate of the prestigious National Institute of Design and specialized in animation production will showcase the different styles and forms of animation in this workshop.
Augmented reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) bridge the digital and physical worlds. They allow you to take in information and content visually, in the same way you take in the world. The recent development in the ARVR technology and content creation are creating new horizons not only in entertainment industry but also will impact advertising, marketing and eduction industry. Mr. Harsha Kikkeri will conduct a workshop on ARVR.
Visual effects allow filmmakers to create breathtaking imaginary universes and achieve stunts that would be impossible to film in the real world. VFX is very powerful mechanism which is highly popular and widely used in recent movies. Phantom studios have used VFX techniques in many of the blockbuster movies. Mr. Bejoy from Phantom Studios will show the making of the movie 'Beast' with mesmerising VFX effects used in the movie.
The Trends of Mobile Filming have brought peculiar changes to the filming industry. Film making is more about telling a story, mobile filming has broken that barrier too. MR. Ritesh with his wide experience in film making and telling stories through the lens of camera will guide the audience with the practical tips in producing films in this workshop.
Considering the global opportunities and investments in the fast growing AVGC sector, Government of India also announced to set-up AVGC task force. The potential for job opportunities in the AVGC sector is humongous. The industry panel will discuss the growth, demand and new job roles, and employment opportunities in this sector.
International platforms like Netflix and Amazon are investing heavily in Indian content, especially regional languages. This means content production in Hindi and Regional language will get a huge boost. Along with this the genres are expanding too. This brings huge opportunities for OTT, TV, and Film Production. The panel of eminent industry experts from this content industry will elaborate about the entertainment business, and content production for OTT, TV and Films production.
Immersive media, such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR and AR) has recently gained prominence in design education and entertainment industry. VR and AR based instruction setup that allows the collaborative discussions between faculty and students are remotely discussed. The 5G will bring high-speed internet and the audiences will embrace the prospective opportunities in this domain. The panel of eminent industry experts from AR and VR will highlight the New Age skills required in this field.
